The Race Across America is the toughest ultracycling event in the world. The race is 30% longer than the Tour de France, but participants must complete it in half the time.
Starting in Oceanside, California, the race spans over 4800 kilometers, climbs 175,000 feet, crosses 12 states, and finishes at City Dock in Annapolis, Maryland. Participants must finish the race under 12 days, and spend more than 20 hours a day on their bikes with no rest days.
Every year, approximately 50% of racers finish the race. In 2022, Sebastien crossed the finish line in 12th position and became only the second type 1 diabetic in history to complete the Race Across America in the solo category.
