A JOURNEY PUNCTUATED WITH HARDSHIP

Sebastien vowed that the obstacle would never keep him from living life to the fullest, and today his story is a testament to how challenges can be turned into opportunities. Diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body’s immune system attacks and destroys the insulin producing cells of the pancreas. It can occur at all ages, but usually does in children and young adults, causing them to be dependent on insulin for the rest of their life. As opposed to Type 2 diabetes, it cannot be prevented through nutrition, exercise and medication.
